Imploring the Holy Spirit; Planning for Confirmation.
Come, Holy Spirit!
The faithful are always called to listen to the Holy Spirit, but in moments of critical discernment and movement, the Church unites in prayer to align itself more fully with God’s will. After a period of prayerful reflection, Archbishop Lori has provided guidance on an important pastoral question:
“At what point in a young person’s life is the reception of the fullness of the Holy Spirit most fruitful?”
Through consultation and careful consideration of sacramental theology, social science, developmental psychology, and lived experiences, he identified two key insights:

“We often underestimate the zeal and readiness of even our youngest disciples.”

“Parents and family play the decisive role in nurturing young people into mature discipleship.”
These findings reaffirm the Church’s commitment to forming young people in faith and ensuring that they receive the grace of the Holy Spirit at the most opportune moment in their spiritual journey.
Join us as we implore the Holy Spirit to prepare for the impact of the standard age of Confirmation, becoming 9 years old in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
On Friday, February 28, we invite you to join us for prayer and adoration at 7:00 PM. An optional pizza dinner will be served beforehand at 6:30 PM. At 7:30 PM, we will break into small listening sessions, during which the parish staff will guide a discussion on your child’s readiness for the sacrament and the necessary steps for preparation.
Schedule
- 6:30 pm: Pizza in the Good Shepherd Room (Optional)
- 7:00 pm: Adoration and prayer
- 7:30 pm: Staff-led small group listening sessions, with a focus on readiness & necessity for success.
