Humbly welcome the word that has been planted in you
and is able to save your souls.
Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves.
— James 1:21b-22
Blessings as we enter a new academic year!
An exceptional education peaks curiosity, ignites the imagination, and sparks creativity. Learning success should not be measured simply by a test for IQ or even the equally important EQ. Education goes beyond facts and figures or even the ability to read and calculate. The teaching of children to adults should also focus on forming a healthy conscience, embracing virtue, and striving for excellence in character.
James understood Jesus’ message; all the laws and rules are meaningless if not embraced at one’s very core. In writing to the early Christians, James stresses the need to let the Word of God sink into the essence of our being so that we might live the Gospel as authentic witnesses. This approach does not lead us away from God’s law but instead embraces the purpose of the law, that we might be in a relationship with God and from that relationship finding new life in community with our brothers and sisters.
May this year truly help all our students and parishioners embrace the Lord Jesus, prioritizing him in this life. As Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and Parish embraces this theme for the year from Jesus’ teaching, “I am the vine, and you are the branches.” In collaboration with our outstanding teachers, administrators, staff, and families, May our prayers and efforts lead to a harvest of great fruit in our children
and youth.
St. Joseph, pray for us.
Live Jesus in our hearts, forever.
