Director of Evangelization
Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Ellicott City, MD

Reports to: Pastor
As part of its mission to help others encounter Christ and the power of His saving love, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church is seeking a full-time Director of Evangelization to lead and coordinate its parish ministries and discipleship formation in accordance with the parish Discipleship Pathway. The position is responsible for inviting parishioners and the unchurched into a personal relationship with Jesus, then provides opportunities to encounter the Lord and take the next step to become his disciple. The Director will also be charged with teaching and promoting the truths of the Catholic Faith while developing servants and leaders to serve the community.
The Director will work hands-on and with teams of parishioners to offer spiritual and pastoral care to the hurting and those without hope, especially those in crisis or difficult life situations. In addition to directing regular open and closed support groups, the Director will be charged with implementing a parish-based 12-step Christian recovery program. Working with the Pastor, the Director will respond to parishioner’s needs for pastoral care in their various stages of healing. The Director will be responsible for the ongoing training and equipping of teams of parishioners to assist in the ministry of pastoral care.
The position requires both daytime and evening availability. Weekend hours are required, as needed, to accomplish the responsibilities of the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ministry
- Oversee and develop a formation process that supports our Discipleship Process and seek out other programs to supplement these works.
- Provide ministry leadership and development for all Pastoral Care ministries, including Celebrate Recovery and Stephen Ministry
- Develop a strategy on an annual basis with projected goals for ministerial works, caregiving, leadership training and support resources.
- Plans, leads, or directs efforts to ensure outreach to the unchurched, those who are searching, and those Catholics who may have drifted away from the Church within the Pastorate area.
- Be present at important parish gatherings, liturgies, and social functions.
Administration and Communication
• Effectively communicate the various Pastoral Care and Discipleship Formation programs and services to parishioners and the broader community.
• Know and maintain proper ethical practices to create a safe environment for those receiving care, especially children, youth and the most vulnerable.
• Develop an annual budget and oversee the day-to-day expenses related to the works of this ministry.
VOLUNTEERS
- Identify, recruit and train ministers to support the various ministries of OLPH.
- Provide coordination and direction regarding the day-to-day execution of the ministry.
LEADERSHIP AND DEVELOPMENT
- Establish goals, objectives, and measures of accountability for each ministry team.
- Quarterly review of initiatives to date and progress toward goals with Pastor.
- Oversee the day-to-day leadership of designated team members.
- Foster team member relationships with regular team meetings and individual coaching.
- Assist parishioners in discovering where they can best and most effectively serve, taking into consideration to the overall parish mission

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in theology, religious studies, pastoral ministry, social work, or related field required; master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a pastoral ministry or a similar position that demonstrates the ability to inspire personal conversion/transformation
Coordinator of Evangelization

Reports to: Director of Evangelization
As part of its mission to help others encounter Christ and the power of His saving love, the Coordinator of Evangelization will assist the Director of Evangelization in the role of discipleship formation. Flex hours are possible in relation to this position with some dedicated weekday and weekend hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee weekly scheduling for Mass Ministry and Eucharistic Adoration as well as other areas where ministers are needed to support the parish.
- Coordinator of small faith groups at OLPH. Provide support, encouragement, and leadership for small groups. Assist leaders with curriculum recommendations. Promote Small Faith groups to parishioners.
Work with the Director of Evangelization to help parishioners identify spiritual gifts, natural abilities, and passions for use in Church Ministry. - Coordinate periodic training to support the various Mass ministries of OLPH.
- Attendance at staff meetings and ministry team meetings is required to maintain strong staff relationships and healthy teams of volunteers.
