I was born and raised Catholic in Toledo, Ohio, earned a Master’s degree in Geology from the University of Toledo, and moved to Baltimore in January, 2003 due to my acceptance of a full-time teaching position at CCBC. Later that summer, I married my wonderful wife Donna, and she moved to Baltimore to be with me. My primary responsibilities at CCBC Catonsville are teaching astronomy and earth science as well as directing the Benjamin Banneker planetarium. In 2009, I finally answered a long-time, persistent call to enter the diaconate program for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, which is where I first met Fr. Mike. I was ordained to the diaconate in 2013. The Archbishop has appointed me to serve previously at St. Casimir in Canton and at Our Lady of Victory in Arbutus. I have served those parishes by assisting with Masses and presiding at baptisms and weddings. Furthermore, I have assisted with Confirmation and Becoming Catholic (OCIA) ministries. In March 2026, the Archbishop assigned me to serve here at OLPH.
Who is one of my heroes? I would have to say that that is a three-way tie. First would be my father, a WWII vet and firefighter, who was not only the best father in the world, but one who showed me how to be a good husband. Second is my mother, who, although stricter than my Dad, showed how much she loved and cared about my 2 older sisters every day of our lives. She and my father were married for over 51 years, so they must have done something right! Third is my wonderful wife, Donna. Not only is she my best friend, but my confidant, my sounding board, and my best critic! She changed her life for me, and for that I will always be grateful.
What inspires me? Ministry is like teaching in that it is so gratifying to see the “light bulb” come on when people learning about their faith and see the Holy Spirit at work in them, and it makes me glad to see that I have had a hand in that, no matter how small it may be.
What do I like to do in my free time? I like to read mysteries and thrillers, travel, and learn about different places, their histories, and their cultures. I also like to go on pilgrimages, and have been to Italy, Guadalupe, Greece, and the Holy Land.
What is something quirky about you? Bishop Bruce and I grew up in the same Polish neighborhood in Toledo, although several years apart.
Why do you work for the Church? I take the mission we have as clergy, “to save souls,” very seriously. I feel called to meet people where they are, get the “smell of the sheep” when necessary, and walk with them on their faith journeys, assisting them as much as I can by word and example to bring them closer to loving God and their neighbors.
Why am I excited to join the OLPH family? I want to meet new people, work with some as fellow workers in the vineyard of the Lord, and use my gifts and talents as much as possible to help bring about the Kingdom of God here in Ellicott City and the surrounding area. The harvest is plenty!
