Mary Saarinen

Youth Minister

Born and raised a Maryland girl, Mary hails from Laurel, where she grew up in a family of eight. She was homeschooled before leaving for Ohio to attend Franciscan University of Steubenville. Recently graduating with a degree in Theology, she is excited to be serving the youth of OLPH. Mary is a big fan of hiking, pranking, kombucha, and just laughing in general!

Why do you love OLPH?
I have not been here long, but one thing I can say about this parish is that OLPH has a unique familiar sense to it. There is a genuine love between its members, and this is clearly from the Heart of Christ.

Why do you work for the church?
The salvation of souls.
That’s what it is all about! The greatest joy of my life has been to know the love of Jesus Christ, and I want to bring as many souls to Him as possible.

What inspires you?
THE SAINTS! Talk about living life to the fullest. These are people who gave their all for the love of God. Their example of always striving for beatitude never ceases to remind me of our true calling. Also, Rocky Balboa. Who doesn’t love a good training montage?
